Babies and tots learn to be comfortable in the water. They learn to submerge their faces in water and learn aquatic movements and yes - lots of splashing.
"Tadpoles" learn how to swim with a guide and a flotation device. Taking comfort in the water to the next level with under water breath control excercises. Focusing on breathing students practice blowing bubbles with an excercise called "blowing out the candle"
Aiming to leave flotation devices behind swimmers at this stage are looking to swim for five yards alternating their arms and legs. Children learn to fully submerge their bodies in water and swim with alternating arms.
Teen swimmers learn how to swim by aternating their arms and legs and aim at swimming for 15 yards. Becoming proficient and controling their breath they can "bob" for ten consecutive times. Teenage swimmers also learn to dive into 3-4 ft of depth and retrive an object. They also learn to float on their front and back for 30 seconds.
Adult swimmers can go from gaining confidence in the water to swimming for 3-6 yards. Adults learn "side breathing" and "alernate breathing", treading water and learn how to reverse directions on their front and back.
